Environmental Achievements

As one of the first Print Groups to enforce strict requirements for environmental control, TSGcs undertook a radical approach to it's own environmental situation and ultimately our Carbon footprint.

The PRO-T Advantage - less waste, less damage, less CO2

PRO-T processless plates help reduce energy consumption and waste, while completely eliminating water and plate chemistry from the pre-press operation.

During 2006, we undertook a transfer of our production plate environment away from the more traditional plate, coupled with a chemistry processing routine to a completely processless plate - the PRO-T from Fuji. Previously we would discharge or collect approximately 3600 litres of spent and damaging chemistry, which had a knock-on effect to the environment. During 2006, we reduced our chemistry need down to just 276 litres and now, during 2007, we generate no chemistry at all.

Environment Logos

According to Fuji's own statements, by the transfer to PRO-T, TSGcs have also reduced our carbon footprint. Fuji has performed an extensive Lifecycle Assessment of the plates, which reveals that not only does PRO-T account for less CO2 in its raw material extraction than processed alternatives, but it produces far less in use. Because it does not require processing, PRO-T produces a mere 18g of CO2 per square metre of press-ready plate compared to 246g for a processed one. And that's not taking into account the lifetime CO2 associated with making, transporting and disposing of either the processor or the chemistry that it requires. By the time these are factored into the environmental equation, the PRO-T advantage is even more compelling.

So you know you can trust a company that puts so much effort into our Environmental responsibilities.

Digital Presses
No Ozone emissions, low energy consumption, environmental digital ink and toner.

Landfill Reduction
We have also reduced our landfill requirements during 2007. Previously generating 29 large skips of waste now down to just 5.

General Chemistry Reduction
We are now embarking on a rigid programme of chemistry reduction elsewhere in the production process and have already swapped to more environmentally friendly substitutes.

Accreditation almost here.
